About
Olsok in Tolga is now one of the region's largest cultural events during the summer, with traditions dating back to the late 1800s. Back then, the Olsok event included political speeches on the lemkloppa at Sætersgaard, where many famous speakers, from prime ministers to well-known authors, delivered addresses. The modern Olsok celebration was revived in the mid-1980s with Egeberg's Memorial March and a local relay race.
Today, Olsok in Tolga is a cultural festival that spans the entire Tolga municipality, from Kåsa and Øversjødalen in the east to Tolga in the west and up to the national park village of Vingelen. The events showcase local culture and nature. In recent years, the festival has featured over 50 events, large and small, over the 10 days that Olsok in Tolga takes place. It’s estimated that over 10,000 people attend the various events, with the three largest events drawing crowds of 1,000 to 3,000. The many small, intimate gatherings create a warm and down-to-earth atmosphere for locals, returning residents, tourists, and cabin owners alike.
