ROUTE 705 RØROS-STJØRDAL
This beautiful road takes you past great lakes, rivers teeming with fish, wild mountains, deep forests, small hamlets and wide, rural expanses.
When you leave the mountain settlement of Røros, known everywhere for its outstanding nature, culture and history, your journey will take you towards Brekken or Glåmos and onto route 705. From here, the road gradually rises, the trees are further and further apart, until finally only scrub-like dwarf birch remains. Now, increasingly, you will catch glimpses of the high mountains. Over the Langsvola mountain, between Røros and Tydal, several road signs warn motorists of the danger of large herds of reindeer. Perhaps you will be one of the lucky ones who experience these proud animals at close quarters?
From Stugudal, the village on the idyllic Lake Stuggusjøen, and down through Tydal, you will pass by small and large hamlets along the road, which follow the Nea river system. Between Tydal and Selbu, the forest-clad, narrow river valley gradually transforms itself into an open landscape. Selbu, with Lake Selbusjøen as a natural central point, is characterised by a traditional cultivated landscape. Along this road, where nature and culture experiences await you around each bend, you will find pleasant cafés and restaurants, some of them offering local specialities.
