Alpine in the Røros region

Are you one of those who likes a little more speed and excitement than a trip on cross-country skiing provides? Or are you just fond of alternating different winter activities? The winter in the Røros region is long and provides good opportunities to test many kinds of winter sports.  

With its cold and snowy climate, the Røros region can offer many unforgettable powder days during a winter. Although we are best known for fantastic opportunities for cross-country skiing, we also have several nice facilities for those who like it to go down a little faster. For people in the Røros region, this means even more to do as long as there is snow, and for you who live a little further away – dream away and start planning your winter holiday NOW.

Welcome to Funäsfjällen

Just 40 minutes drive from Røros and into Sweden you will find Funäsfjällen Alpine resort. In Funäsfjällen you will find majestic mountains and excellent snow conditions, all season long. They have Scandinavia's largest ski area with 140 slopes you can vary your skiing according to weather, mood and day shape. Add fantastic off-piste skiing, perhaps the world's best trail network for cross-country skiing and over 60 peaks over a thousand meters and you have a complete ski paradise in beautiful surroundings.

 

Hamran skijump and snowplay park

A few hundred meters from Tolga bridge you will find Hamran ski jumping and skiing center. Tolga has created a facility that is open to everyone, and offers ski jumps of 10, 20, 40 and 60 meters in addition to both ski park, ski lift, alpine / snowboard trails and play area. The facility is used all year round, and in the summer it offers opportunities for bike descents / cyclocross and hiking trails. It's time for hours of fun for your group of friends or family. Helmets are mandatory on the slopes, and jumping on the largest slopes requires coaches or experienced parents to participate.

Our little Alpine hill in the city center of Røros

Right in the centre of Røros and a stone's throw from Domus you will find Aasgjerdet. Here there is a slope for slalom and a place for fun for the whole family. 

Rent or borrow your alpine gear

In Sweden you can rent equipment at several shops and at the various resorts. For cross country skiing, you can rent at Røros Guide and even join a guided tour.

Also take a trip to the newly opened equipment center in Røros and Os, BUA. Here you can borrow a wide range of sports and outdoor equipment. The offer is for everyone, residents, cabin residents and tourist, and it is completely free. Located in the same building as the turist office in the city center of Røros.
