Breath mountain air

The mountain welcomes sun, snow and 500 km of ready-made trail tracks. In Røros and Østerdalen we have something for everyone, whether you want to hike on peaks, over gentle mountains, off the trail or in the ski track. There is little that charges the batteries in the same way as a ski trip does. The whole body gets stretched out, and the head gets to rest, yes, it's pure meditation. Frosty trees with powdered sugar sprinkles welcome you out. The sun's rays begin to warm from February, and you have shades of white as far as the eye can see. This is good for both the fit girlfriends and those who need a bit of fresh air. And what's better than a nice bath after skiing?

Røros Hotel has an indoor swimming pool of 27 meters. But it's the outdoor pool that's really "that little extra." Dog sledding is the perfect wilderness experience. Make sure you and your group of friends get to cross out dog sledding on the bucketlist, because the experience is awesome! The silence on the plateau, the interaction between you and the dogs, and the beautiful winter nature – you are lucky if you get to experience the magic of this. Kennel Dølanvollen welcomes you, whether you are newbies or have tried before. The trip can be short or long. But if you choose a full day, you will really feel the harsh mountain scenery and the bonus is an hour's break with bonfires, coffee and cuddles with the dogs.

 

Shopping in the streets of Røros and Tynset

For some of us, trading is one of the pleasures that comes with the girlfriend trip. You will probably be surprised by the large selection of uniqe shops you will find if you add your friend's weekend to Røros. Common to the shops is that they are super cozy, have things you can't get anywhere else and offer an atmosphere from the 16th and 17th centuries. Maybe you'll find art or crafts that you can't leave, because if you come here you've come to the realm of artists. The largest natural trading centre in the region is Tynset. Here you will find a wide selection of chains, niche stores and two shopping centers. At Domus Tynset and Alti Tynset you will find everything you need and then some. Tynset can give you the city feeling, even if you are in the middle of nature.

Enjoy local food

Has it been a long time since you've seen each other? Enjoy a nice lunch with a glass of bubbles and let everyone be updated on what has happened since the last time. There are several restaurants to choose from, but we want to highlight two. Kaffestuggu is the place "where stories are created". This is the oldest café in Røros and the story sits in the beautiful walls. Here you can get high shrimp sandwiches with homemade dill mayonnaise or reindeer burger – of course with local meat.

Change from your wilderness clothes, put on your dress and shoes, and go out and enjoy a nice dinner! Vertshuset Røros is located in the middle of the beautiful mining town of Røros. Here you will find the perfect setting for your dining experience. The hosts have previously worked for several Michelin-starred restaurants, and now want to highlight the good ingredients from the Røros region. Vertshuset Røros is inspired by the bourgeoisie rooms of the 1800`s and the menu is adapted to the season.

With a central location and a fantastic menu. May we present Grillhuset. They blend the best of Danish handcrafts and French techniques with locally produced food. You can enjoy delicious, tender meat or vegetarian dishes. All cooked on a wonderful charcoal grill, which gives a lovely smoky flavor.

If you want to enjoy an aperitif before your meal or have a glass of wine after your meal, we recommend Gruva, which is the new cocktail bar at Bergstaden Hotel. The hotel has done an extensive renovation in 2022, and in the new restaurant, 1897, you can have a fantastic five-course dinner; All with local produce. The name of the restaurant derives from when the main part of the hotel was completed; 1897.

Art weekend that broadens your horizons

Is it art that is closest to the heart of the group of friends? At Røros Kunstformidling you will find works by Pushwagner, Håkon Gullvåg, Kjell Nupen, Jacob Weidemann and many more. In addition, they have blankets from Røros Tweed and beautiful reindeer skin from Rørosrein. Nothing is better to take with you as a seating pad in the field than just that. If you bring the fire pit, it will be perfect.

Kunst og Kaos is a gallery driven by passion and enthusiasm. The exhibitions are constantly changing, and here you can buy a tour where you get knowledge about the works and the artist behind it. Perfect for a group of friends who want to broaden their horizons!
