About

The Smelthytta museum is built on the ruins of the smelter that burnt down in 1975. Here you find exhibitions about the history of the Røros Copper Works, brought to life by models of mines, smelters and technical installations. These models give an excellent impression of the way in which mining operations were carried out and fascinate both children and adults.

The exhibition In Their Finery displays party and formal wear worn in Røros in the 1800’s. Museum shop and café.

Daily guided tours of the museum during the summer season, on Thursdays and Saturdays during the winter season. Audioguides in Norwegian, English, German and French included in the ticket price.

Free access for children under the age of 16 when accompanied by an adult. Not valid for group bookings.

Guided tours for groups are available on request.
