Be Considerate in Wild Reindeer Habitats
When you head into the mountains, you’re stepping into the home of some of Norway’s most vulnerable wildlife — including the wild reindeer. To ensure these animals can move, rest, and live undisturbed, it’s important that we show awareness and tread carefully. Wild reindeer are especially sensitive during the calving season in May, when even small disturbances from people or dogs can cause stress or disrupt the herd.
Many of our mountain areas are core wild reindeer habitats. By following six simple guidelines, you help protect both the animals and the fragile mountain environment — and you’ll likely enjoy a better and more meaningful outdoor experience yourself.
