With a destination consisting of six municipalities, there is always something going on; Femundløpet and Rørosmartnan in February, Elden and Opera Di Setra in the summer season, Local food day, Tolga in the autumn season and Christmas market Røros in December, just to name a few. Many of the events are also created with a background for the preservation of traditions and history, royal privileges or the dissemination of culture.
Femundløpet is a long-distance sled dog race that takes place every winter, starting in the historic mining town of Røros. The dog teams drive through eight municipalities and the spectacular landscape of Sør-Trøndelag and Hedmark, before returning to the finish in Røros.

On Norway's most spectacular outdoor stage, the interaction is sparkling and the theme eternally relevant: War threatens young hopes and dreams, but many are those who never then less carry a fire in their heart. Written by Arnfinn Strømmevold and Bertil Reithaug.
A musical theatre about love and hate – hope and despair in the Nordic region's greatest war tragedy.
The sledgehammer mounds form a majestic stage for the drama that unfolds in the evening hours at the end of July/August. Elden takes us back to 1718–1719, when 10,000 Swedish soldiers under the command of General Carl Gustaf Armfeldt went towards Trondheim to take Norway, by order of Charles XII. Under the command of General De la Barre, several hundred of the soldiers were sent to Røros – where much of the action unfolds. When Charles XII was shot, the Swedish soldiers' return to Sweden began. The death march – where 4,000 soldiers died on their way across the winter mountains towards Sweden – is a central part of the music play Elden.
