Experience Oddentunet – an Authentic Traveler’s Farm in the Heart of Narjordet
Oddentunet is a beautifully preserved, listed farmstead dating back to the early 1800s, situated in its original location. Known for its rare decorative painting and fine woodwork, the farm tells a fascinating story of travel, trade, and craftsmanship.
Originally established in 1747, the farm served both as a site for charcoal production for the Røros Copper Works and as a traveler’s stop for drivers and horses moving goods along the trade route between Dalarna in Sweden and Røros. It also functioned as a postal station, making Oddentunet a vital hub in the region.
The main house at Odden reflects urban Trønder architecture, with stylistic details reminiscent of Stiftsgården in Trondheim.
During the summer, you can join guided walking tours and experience the farm's unique history and cultural heritage up close.
Outside the summer season, private visits can be booked through the Røros Museum website.
📍 Parking and meeting point: at the community center Solvang. From there, walk 300 meters along the river to reach Oddentunet.
