In the Røros region, Femundsmarka is a well-known paddling paradise with its numerous large and small lakes, rivers, and fishing waters. But you don't need to go so far to find great paddling opportunities for the family. Here are two tips for easy canoe trips from Nils Henning Øglend in Røros Guide.
1. From Rambergsjøen to Røros
Drive from Røros towards Femunden for about 30 minutes, and you'll see a sign for Grådalen on your right. On the left, you'll find a nice parking lot, and you'll be at Rambergsjøen. This is the starting point for the canoe trip, and there's a lovely beach here, so perhaps you'll have time to let the kids start with a swim? You paddle via Håelva towards Røros. It's nice to take a break when you reach Dalselva or Rismosjøen. There are white sandy beaches here that invite a longer pause. The journey continues along Håelva until you reach the bridge in Gjøssvika.
If you wish, Røros Guide can both drive you and the canoe to the starting point and pick you up afterward. This makes it easy to arrange a canoe trip while the family is in the Røros region. The trip takes a day, so it's advisable to start early and have plenty of time for a rest along the way.

2. From Orvosbrua to Røros
Drive on Highway 30 from Røros towards Orvos until you reach the bridge over the river and the place called Nyplassbruan. This is the starting point for the canoe trip along the northernmost part of the Glomma river. From Aursunden, the river flows for 600 kilometers before reaching its outlet at Fredrikstad.
Many types of birds inhabit this area, such as teal, pochards, tufted ducks, mallards, woodcocks, and solitary snipe, so this journey can be an exciting trip for bird enthusiasts. A nice resting place is at Tarvaldsodden, which is a little over halfway to Røros. After Sundet, you must keep to the left and follow Håelva to Gjøssvika and Røros.
The trip takes about half a day with a good rest along the way.
