About
This year’s performance features excerpts from several of Falkberget’s most famous novels. What they have in common is that all are set in the area around Christianus Sextus. Through Falkberget’s vivid descriptions of the mountains and forests on one hand, and his raw portrayals of how humans through the ages have wasted and exploited these same mountains and forests on the other, we get a story of how the landscape around Røros and Christianus Sextus has transformed over time—from untouched nature, through industrial development, to picturesque scenery.
Jon Lockert Rohde is responsible for the script and direction, and also performs on stage. He is joined by actors Lasse Kolsrud and Madalena Soussa Helly-Hansen. You will hear excerpts and meet characters from novels such as Christianus Sextus, Den fjerde nattevakt (The Fourth Night Watch), and Nattens brød (Bread of the Night), as well as from lesser-known works like Sol and from Falkberget’s poetry.
Musician and composer Magnus Børmark accompanies them, providing the music.
"Sevrillen" is a character from the novel Sol, which tells the story of his struggle to preserve his faith and traditions in the face of a changing world.
Look forward to a unique nature and cultural experience in spectacular surroundings.
Practical Information:
Christianus Sextus is a mining ruin located near the old Kongens mines and Orvsjøen. You can get there by car (toll road fee: NOK 50). From there, it’s a 20-30 minute walk to Sextus. In summer 2023, parts of the performance will be staged along the walking route.
This is an outdoor mountain event. Remember to wear sturdy shoes, and it’s a good idea to bring a sitting mat for the final stop. Dress according to the weather.
The entire performance lasts about 2 hours.
There are toilets on site, but no food or drink sales.
